Why Cropped Hoodies Need Their Own Size Chart
A cropped hoodie is not a regular hoodie with the hem cut shorter. The moment you shorten the body, the balance of the garment changes — pocket placement, sleeve length, rib height and even hood size all need re-proportioning, or the piece reads as awkward instead of intentional. For brands, this means one thing: never grade a cropped style straight from your regular hoodie size chart.

Flat Measurements: S–XXL Reference Chart
Our reference spec for a women’s cropped hoodie (cm, garment measured flat, ±1 cm production tolerance):

Two design notes: the hem width runs narrower than the chest to create the signature blouson effect at the rib, and body length is set so the rib sits at the high waist — the two decisions that make a cropped hoodie look designed rather than shortened.
Grading for the US Market
US buyers typically want a roomier chest and a longer body than EU equivalents at the same size label. When grading for US distribution we recommend: +2 cm chest per size (instead of +3 for EU), body length +2 cm per size, and offering XXL as standard rather than an extended size. Also confirm whether your customer expects “junior” or “missy” fit logic — the same size label can differ by a full size between the two.
Grading for the EU Market
EU sizing runs closer to the base chart above. Keep the 3 cm chest grade, maintain the tighter hem for shape, and check sleeve length carefully — EU customers are more sensitive to sleeves that ride up on a cropped body, so sleeve length should grade +2 cm per size against a slightly dropped shoulder.
Three Fit Questions to Answer Before Sampling
- Where should the hem sit — high waist, natural waist or mid-hip? This single decision drives every other measurement.
- Oversized or true to size? An oversized cropped hoodie needs the hem widened proportionally, or the contrast reads accidental.
- What does it layer over? If the style is meant to sit over a sports bra or fitted tee, add 2–3 cm of ease through the chest.

Slightly. Heavyweight fleece (350+ GSM) holds the silhouette so the chart works as-is. Lighter French terry drapes closer to the body — consider +1 cm of body length for the same perceived fit.
